Artwork in the Spotlight

The Fairy is Allowed to Disagree.

Feb 2022, acrylic and watercolour on canvas, 40x50cm.

Description:

When all of our plans don't work out, pain and fear can encompass us. To overcome this we focus on the concept of 'what's next?', and in this refocus we can get stuck between intense emotions.

Passion pulls against fear. When emotions are intense, we may be found riding along with the emotional flow.

Refining 'Display'

2025

Refining 'Display'  is the latest collection by Aimée Doreen, which specifically explores the term 'display'. This journey spans over the year 2025, beginning with the consious decision to activley learn what it is to be under public surveillance. Surveillance mirrors ones own flaws back to us, causing people to question themselves and refine.

This theme culminated at the end of 2025 upon an observation of Aimée's personal growth and how that intertwined with growth of the business.  Continual media presence was one element that had reformed the artist's understanding of a public self-image.

Aimée Doreen aided her reflections in growth through a personal comparative study with the contemporary music and creative advertisement of the artist Drake. With similar themes of elevation, spiritual growth and human connection, content by the musician became a fresh souce of inspiration to this collection.

Visually this collection holds an electric or magnetic passion that fuels the growth of the human psyche. This is juxtaposed with the necessity of finding a calmer ballance in long strands of paint and gentle colours. In summary, the growth of mentality and self-actualisation is forged through the crushing realities of spotlight and has found its way onto canvas.

A loud-speaker highlights the truest forms of humanity and when we are under the spotlight, even the darkest shadows of a person are illumanted.

    'Searching for Revolution' Collection

    2024

In a search for new concepts and ways of thinking, this collection displays art that questions more singular emotions to seek new and refined expressions.

Personal stories and experiences with harsh or engulfing emotions where focused on in each artwork. This collection deals with strong passion, melancholy, frustration, precision, and healing.

      'Love, Aimée' Collection

      2022 - April 2024

This is Aimée Doreen's first artwork collection which displays a persisting passion to embrace the unique artist within ones-self. These artworks were inspired by studio life, personal connections, studies, work and travel.

The 'Love, Aimée' Collection displays an array of artworks that hold extreme emotion in moments and stories of life, which has become a cornerstone of the artist's practice. This work displays the beginning of Aimée's deeper learning of the subconscious, a self-proclaimed transformative experience. The collection's title is akin to the signing off in one's personal diary, which resonates with the theme of the artist's personal narrative.

Printed copies of these images are available to purchase.

        The Encounter

        June 2024

The Encounter is a collection that presents small canvases splattered with glossy nail polish acrylics. These abstract artworks may catch the attention of those who love bright, glossy shine. Besides an attractive first impression, each canvas generates a sense of nostalgia rooted in childlike creativity. This specific concept comes from Aimée's childhood inspirations, which included erratic colouful images and nail polish creativity on weekends.

Nail polish inspires interest into beauty and fashion; henceforth this subject is closely followed by a fundamental concept of the fashion industry which is being seen or viewed. These canvases capture the essence of a glamour industry through an artistic viewpoint and harness the raw nature of what an artwork is designed for; viewing.

The Encounter collection holds qualities of exploration and playfulness. This collection exhibits a raw splattering of glossy materials with dripping, swirling and merging colours.

This exploration looks at one of the past, potentially subconscious inspirations behind Aimée Doreen's signature style.
